In fifth grade my son was determined to run a 5K in honor of his grandmother and Aunt Lulu in the annual aneurysm 5K run at the Philadelphia Navel Yard and he was also determined to run it in his thread bare, hightop, Converse Sneakers. I wanted to get him a good pair of running shoes but he felt that his floppy toed pair was lucky. It saw him through a two week exchange program in Cuernavaca, Mexico and then a spring break trip to Montreal, Canada and was impressed that they had traveled all over North America.! So he ran and finished and was so proud of himself...and I was too!
