This is Pacho. Pacho sees the world in every amazing color of the rainbow. Much like Pacho, my son saw everything in vivid color when he was young. It was one of his first symptoms of Lyme disease. He saw colorful shapes drift through his vision and often saw objects as colorful pixels. He thought that everyone saw the world that way. I'll never forget the day I found out. He was five years old and while we were waiting for a movie he asked me…"what color are your spots Mama?" The question sent chills down my spine because I too had visual issues, not as vivid as Jack's. They were part of my confusing symptoms I had since a teen. This discovery started my unrelentless journey for answers. I was not going to let this kid live the life I was living with strange and sometimes really scary symptoms. When we finally got a diagnosis and treated, his visual issues started to fade. For a while afterwards he would tell me that he missed his colors. |
