When I was a kid we would go for long family drives and on every drive we would eventually start belting out American Pie. It was a tradition with my father at the lead and occasionally my mother would join in. Sometimes these drives would be in our camper.  It was the kind that sits in the bed of a pick-up truck. My sisters and I would ride in the back and talk to our parents through walkie talkies. When we got quiet we would hear a loud crackle through the speaker..."make some noise!" ...and we did. We would sing. Once we sang the Mah na, mah na song ( to the annoyance of our parents) for 50 miles! But most often we would sing American Pie. Our camper was not an Airstream but they are my favorite. They seem futuristic and nostalgic all at the same time. Someday. Still Airstream dreaming.
